Rob is a founder of Icen Risk and one of the most experienced M&A underwriters in the market, having specialised in this area since 2000.  He ran financial lines and M&A divisions in global insurers before setting up Icen Risk. His transactional insurance underwriting experience spans most sectors and territories.

Suhail is a founder of Icen Risk and was previously a tax partner at leading international law firm, Dentons LLP, where he advised on all forms of taxation in finance, real estate and general corporate taxation. Suhail is a leading tax underwriter in the market and is responsible for Icen Risk’s Tax insurance practice with Andrew.

Andrew is a founder of Icen Risk and was previously a tax partner at leading international law firm, Dentons LLP, where he was a lawyer for 14 years.  Andrew has been underwriting tax risks since 2016 and is one of the most experienced tax underwriters in the market.

Andrew is responsible for Icen Risk’s Tax insurance practice with Suhail.

Peter is responsible for Icen Risk’s W&I practice. He is based in Vienna and is a highly experienced underwriter in the DACH and CEE regions. He is highly experienced and has written deals in multiple sectors for over thirteen years having worked in multiple countries.

Ljuba leads the Italian W&I business for Icen Risk. Based in Milan, Ljuba is a highly experienced insurance professional having run the Italian business for a large broker. Ljuba is also a qualified M&A lawyer having worked for KPMG for almost 10 years as an M&A lawyer.

Shabnam runs Operations across the business at Icen Risk.  She previously worked as a Senior PA at Allen & Overy and has over 17 years’ experience in the legal sector support services working within a variety of areas including Insurance and Corporate M&A.

Luc is Icen Risk's Finance Director and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales with over 13 years’ experience at PwC in audit and transaction services across a range of sectors. Luc has a focus on underwriting the financial aspects of W&I deals as well as assisting clients with claims.

Gemma is a founder of Icen Risk and a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including Financial Director and transactional services at PwC. Gemma runs Claims for Icen Risk and works alongside Travelers in achieving good claims outcomes for clients.

Arunas is Icen Risk’s lead W&I underwriter for the CEE. Arunas gained experience as a lawyer who specialised in commercial and professional negligence litigation. He now underwrites deals across the UK and Europe in multiple sectors with great expertise in CEE deals.

Aleksander is Icen Risk’s lead tax underwriter for the CEE region.  Aleksander gained his Tax M&A experience from 7 years of practice in Deloitte and PwC in Warsaw providing tax advisory services for numerous local and international transactions.

Joe is a tax underwriter based in the London team. Before underwriting, Joe was a tax lawyer at leading law firms Allen & Overy and Taylor Wessing where he advised clients on a multitude of tax issues.

Simon leads Icen Risk's intellectual property practice. Simon is an intellectual property lawyer with 30 years’ experience advising brand, creative and technology-driven businesses on IP law, strategy, transactions and IP contract disputes.

Jack is an experienced W&I & IP underwriter and qualified solicitor at Icen Risk who works on a variety of transactions across all sectors including technology, renewables, healthcare and consumer brands. Prior to joining Icen Risk Jack was a corporate M&A lawyer at Ashurst where he worked on a variety of public and private transactions. He has also previously worked as a Legal Counsel at BlackRock in the renewables and infrastructure team.

María von Carstenn-Lichterfelde Rioja is a tax underwriter at IcenRisk, based in Spain. She has extensive experience in domestic and cross-border tax matters, acquired over more than a decade at a top-tier Spanish law firm.

Nick is a W&I underwriter in the M&A team at Icen Risk, and a South African law qualified corporate lawyer with experience in multi-jurisdictional private M&A across all sectors.  Prior to joining Icen Risk, Nick was a W&I broker at Gallagher in London.  Before entering the W&I insurance market in 2020, Nick trained and qualified as a lawyer in Baker McKenzie’s Johannesburg office and then worked as a corporate associate in RPC’s London office.

Eduardo leads the Iberian W&I practice for Icen Risk. Prior to joining Icen, Eduardo worked as a W&I insurance broker at one of the world’s largest international brokerage firms. Before his career as a broker, Eduardo was an M&A lawyer.

Pamela is a Tax Underwriter at Icen Risk in Milan and a lawyer admitted to the Milan Bar in 2019. With experience at Ernst & Young and top Italian firms, she specialises in international tax and M&A, having advised on cross-border Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Private Equity deals. Her expertise includes tax due diligence, structuring, compliance, and corporate tax planning. Pragmatic and detail-oriented, she supports clients in navigating complex transactions and managing tax risks.

Alex is an Underwriting Associate at Icen Risk and has achieved his Diploma CII qualification. He works within the W&I team on UK and Italian transactions. Alex coordinates the environmental product offering in collaboration with the environmental team at Zurich Insurance Group.

Ben is an analyst at Icen Risk and has completed his Diploma CII qualification. Ben works across the business including W&I, Tax and IP.

Ebi is a W&I Underwriting Associate within the M&A team at Icen Risk. Prior to joining Icen Risk, she served as an M&A Project Manager at an MGA and previously held various broking roles. At Icen Risk, Ebi supports a range of transactions across W&I, Tax, and IP business lines.

Fergus is a W&I Underwriting Associate on the M&A team at Icen Risk. He joined the firm after gaining experience in the market since 2021, most recently serving as an M&A Project Manager at an MGA, where he worked across both the W&I and Contingent Legal Risk teams. At Icen Risk, Fergus supports a variety of transactions across the W&I, Tax, and IP lines of business.

Oliver is an analyst at Icen Risk and works across the business including W&I, Tax and IP.

Mohammed is an ACCA qualified Financial Accountant at Icen Risk with over five years' experience in practice. He joins us with a strong background in financial reporting and compliance.

Josh is an Underwriting Associate in the US Tax team. Prior to joining the Icen, he worked in US/UK private client tax compliance and advisory within the financial services team, where his work focused primarily on tax services for individuals operating in the alternative asset space, while also covering a broad range of cross-border private client matters for individuals, trusts, and estates.

Sarah plays a key role in supporting operational functions across Icen Risk. Before joining the firm, she held the position of Personal Assistant at Allen Overy Shearman Sterling LLP. With more than 19 years of experience in legal sector support services, Sarah has developed extensive expertise across a variety of disciplines, including Insurance and Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions.

Charlotte is responsible for Human Resources at Icen Risk. She brings 11 years’ HR experience gained in London, Paris and Hong Kong. Her recent roles have focused on HR management in financial services and private equity, supporting teams across Europe.

Mark leads Icen Risk's contingent practice.  Mark is a litigation and arbitration lawyer by background.  Since leaving private practice, he has held senior positions in litigation funding and contingent risk insurance.  He brings extensive experience in underwriting and structuring complex litigation and legal risk solutions for corporates, funds, law firms and investors across multiple jurisdictions.

Owen is an analyst at Icen Risk and works across the business including W&I, Tax and IP. Prior to joining Icen Risk, Owen worked at Lockton as an Account Handler within their P&C Retail department.

Alex manages global claims for Icen Risk, and is an insurance claims professional and former insurance disputes lawyer with more than 15 years’ experience in the London market.  Previously, she was Head of Transactional Liability and Technical Claims for Mosaic Insurance, and prior to that spent six years as head of private equity and M&A claims at Marsh, overseeing a team of advocates dealing with W&I, contingent risk, and tax-risk claims.  Alex began her career in private practice at Mills & Reeve LLP, specialising in professional indemnity insurance litigation. Alex brings a wealth of experience on both insurer and broker side to bear in her role, with the aim of managing an excellent claims process and achieving fair claims outcomes for transactional liability clients.

Alexander van Rijckevorsel van Kessel is a Tax Underwriter at Icen Risk, specialising in tax risks across the Benelux region. Prior to joining Icen, he practised as a tax lawyer at an international law firm, advising on domestic and cross-border M&A, corporate restructurings, and complex tax matters. Alexander works closely with brokers, clients, and advisers to structure bespoke tax insurance solutions.

Emma is an Underwriter in the M&A team at Icen Risk in Milan.
Before entering the W&I market, she gained experience as a lawyer in the M&A team of McDermott Will & Schulte’s Milan office. Emma was admitted to the Italian Bar in 2023.

Emma is an analyst at Icen Risk and works across the business including W&I, Tax and IP. Prior to joining Icen Risk, Emma worked at Adderstone Group as a Paralegal and completed her Master of Laws at Durham University.

Kiran is a Financial Analyst in the team and is currently pursuing his ACCA qualification, with the ambition of becoming fully qualified accountant

Mitchell is a tax underwriter in the US tax team and was previously a tax associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and other leading international law firms, advising on US tax aspects of a broad range of complex domestic and cross‑border transactions.

Ryan Cloutier is a Principal with US Tax team based in New York. Before joining Icen Ryan spent six years helping build the policy drafting and negotiation function at a large transactional liability MGA. Ryan’s experience includes a stint at a regional US law firm advising clients private equity and M&A matters, followed by stints as a representations and warranties underwriter and a policy specialist for RWI and Tax Insurance at two other MGAs. Additionally, Ryan holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and recently received his LL.M. in Taxation with a certificate in International Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.

Shannon is a qualified corporate lawyer with extensive international experience in M&A insurance underwriting. Before joining Icen Risk, she worked at a leading global insurer in London and New York, where she led the transatlantic representations and warranties (R&W) insurance practice. She underwrote transactions across a broad range of jurisdictions and sectors, including technology, renewable energy, financial institutions, and consumer brands. Prior to moving into the insurance industry, Shannon was an attorney in the M&A practice at O’Melveny & Myers in New York, advising clients on domestic and cross-border transactions.

Sophia is a Tax Underwriter at Icen Risk. Sophia trained at Shoosmiths and qualified as a tax lawyer, before joining Herbert Smith Freehills and later Taylor Wessing where she gained extensive experience advising on real estate, corporate and finance transactions. Sophia combines strong technical expertise with a commercial approach to underwriting complex tax risks.

Tara is an analyst at Icen Risk and works across the business including W&I, Tax and IP. Prior to joining Icen Risk, Tara completed an MSc in Law and Finance at the London School of Economics.
