Rob is one of the most experienced and respected M&A underwriters in the market, having specialised in this area since 2000. He has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having started in financial lines in 1993 and ran the Latin American Financial Lines division of a global insurer. Subsequently Rob set up and led the M&A insurance division of a global insurer for many years before founding Icen. His transactional insurance underwriting experience spans most sectors and territories.
Dawn Bhoma

Dawn is the most experienced specialist tax underwriter in the European M&A market. She was previously a senior tax lawyer at leading international law firms Dentons LLP and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. She was the first tax specialist to join the M&A insurance market and has led the way in creating and growing innovative tax specific insurance products that can create significant value on M&A deals. Dawn worked with Rob for many years at other syndicates before founding Icen with him.

Gemma is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, with over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including Financial Director and transactional services roles at a Big 4 accountant. Gemma underwrites W&I deals with a focus on financial diligence as well as analysing and helping clients with claims.
Joris Broeren

Joris joined the M&A insurance market in early 2014. Prior to joining Icen Risk, Joris was responsible for leading and developing the Benelux M&A insurance business for a global broking specialist. Before advising clients on M&A insurance risks, he was an associate in the tax practice at leading Dutch law firm, Loyens & Loeff, advising international clients on corporate taxation in a diverse range of sectors. He was the first tax insurance broker in the Benelux and helped in creating and growing specific tax insurance solutions in this market.
Andrew Thornton

Andrew was a tax partner at leading international law firm, Dentons LLP, where he was a lawyer for 14 years. He specialised in M&A (with an energy sector focus), real estate and VAT. He also advised many insurers in relation to W&I and tax specific insurance for many years. He joined the M&A insurance market in September 2016 and underwrites bespoke tax specific products as well as tax issues within W&I deals.
Suhail Qureshi

Suhail joined the M&A insurance market in 2017. Before underwriting tax risks, he was a partner at leading international law firm, Dentons LLP, advising on all forms of taxation in a diverse range of sectors. His core practice areas were finance, real estate and general corporate taxation, and he regularly advised on cross-border transactions and international tax planning. Whilst in private practice, Suhail advised many insurers in relation to W&I and tax specific insurance and now uses that experience to underwrite tax risk for Icen.

Luc is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He joined Icen Risk in March 2022, having spent over 13 years in Assurance and Transaction Services at PwC where he worked across a range of sectors. Luc is focused on underwriting the financial aspects of W&I deals.

Before joining the team in September 2019, Arunas was a lawyer who specialised in commercial and professional negligence litigation, representing both private and corporate clients in the financial services, construction and real estate sectors. Arunas acted for many insured persons claiming against their insurers. He now uses his litigation experience to assess various transactional and contentious risks underwritten by Icen.

Michael is a seasoned tax professional and highly experienced international tax specialist. Michael joined the Icen team from his role as Head of Tax at AIIM, a US $2.3 billion private equity fund founded by Old Mutual and Macquarie. Michael has gained experience with a variety of tax issues on over 109 transactions covering 25 territories. He has spent time in his early career as a tax professional at Grant Thornton and KPMG.

Francisco Castro joined the Icen team in September 2021 from Spain, where he qualified and practiced as a Corporate and M&A Lawyer. Firstly for J&A Garrigues, and afterwards for Cuatrecasas. Francisco is the Icen lead underwriter for Spain and Portugal.
Aleksander Kopeć

Aleksander graduated with a bachelors degree in finance and masters degree in financial and tax law. He gained his Tax M&A experience from 7 years of practice in Deloitte and PwC in Warsaw providing tax advisory services for numerous local and international transactions. These involved one of the biggest transactions in Poland and CEE involving coordination of several European jurisdictions and understanding of tax risk identified therein.
