Hires underline the growing demand for specialist tax liability insurance solutions in the region
LONDON, 07 October 2026 - Icen Risk ("Icen"), a leading transactional risk insurer, today announces the appointment of Hannah Tucker and Courtney Johnson to its Tax Liability Insurance team in North America. The senior appointments form part of Icen's broader strategy to deepen its presence in the region while providing clients with specialist solutions to navigate increasingly complex transactional, regulatory and tax environments.
The appointments come amid growing demand for specialist tax liability insurance solutions across North America while reflecting the firm's continued investment in its underwriting capabilities following Zurich Insurance Group's strategic equity investment in the business in April 2025.
Dawn Bhoma, Managing Principal of Icen Risk, commented "Our tax liability insurance team entered the US market only 12 months ago, and we have experienced strong demandduring that period. The response from clients and brokers reflects increasing demand for specialist underwriting expertise, stable capital and a market that values responsive, technically focused and commercially minded underwriting."
"Hannah and Courtney are excellent additions to our team. Their technical expertise, market knowledge and established reputations within the tax insurance sector will further strengthen our ability to support clients and brokers across the region.
The announcement follows a period of significant growth for Icen. Over the past 12 months, the firm has established its North American platform through the appointments of Chad Wilson as Head of US Tax Liability Insurance and Jonathan Spritz as Head of US Representations & Warranties Insurance. Icen has also continued to expand across Europe, having this month launched its tax liability offering in the Nordics, and has launched a dedicated contingent risk insurance offering, further strengthening its ability to support clients and brokers across an increasingly diverse range of transactional, legal and tax risks
Tucker and Johnson both join from QBE, where they spent six and five years as tax underwriters respectively.
Prior to entering the insurance market, Tucker – who will be based in Houston, Texas – worked as a tax attorney with PwC in New York, advising clients on a broad range of domestic tax matters.
Before QBE, Johnson spent five years at PwC, advising multinational businesses on complex international tax issues. Johnson will be based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Chad Wilson, Head of US Tax Liability Insurance at Icen Risk, added "The response to the Icen proposition in North America has exceeded our expectations. As demand continues to grow, attracting professionals of Hannah's and Courtney's calibre is a significant step forward for our business."
"With our US tax team operating across Central, Eastern and European time zones, we are uniquely positioned to provide clients and brokers with seamless access to specialist expertise, rapid decision-making and around-the-clock underwriting support. Hannah and Courtney’s tax expertise, across multiple areas of tax, combined with the brand quality and stability of Zurich means we are well placed to continue replicating our UK and European success in the most vibrant M&A market in the world."
